The Melancholy Math Quiz Poem by Anders Lim

The Melancholy Math Quiz

Laying out all the knowledge I know
Drops of sweat dripping from my hair
My eyes wide open, red and sore
To questions I must beware

My brain was about to explode
With the pencil in my hand held tight
And with all the internal force within me
I concentrated with all my might

The clock was ticking, second after second
As I shuddered away in fear
Rushing for knowledge deep inside
For the end was coming near

I prayed to God with all my faith
But only to no avail at all
I had to give an answer real fast
Before the final call

'Who can help me now, O Lord
If you're not willing to?
Why do you always escape my presence
At times I most need you? '

I stared up to the heavens
Tears dripping from my eyes
Just when I thought the end had come
Something caught my surprise

'I have never left you alone
You just don't realize me.
You take everything way too fast
As busily as a bee! '

I smiled up to the Lord up there
As I wiped my tears with delight
For the very last time I put all my effort
Holding my pencil tight

At the very final beep
I handed it in confidently
Still feeling extremely grateful to him
For his endless helping for me

The Lord has never left you
And he never will
He will help you through all difficulties
Even when you frozen still
