The Memories Of Goodness... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Memories Of Goodness...

because you choose happiness
melancholia too comes to the other door
this is the place of two sisters
coming from different doors entering
to the house of your mind, and there you
are with a smoking pipe in the kitchen
trying to figure out which way does the
smoke go through to avoid detention.

the rain outside is heavy and the cinders
of the kitchen had already subsided as you
wait for your eyes to be sleepy and forget
the day that again broke your hearth because
the rage of the flesh had been too much
to take inside the gut where memories of
your goodness still rebel.
