The Middle-Aged Man Poem by Lynne Howard

The Middle-Aged Man

The middle-aged man's wife has gone
Seeking solace from another man
Erratic behaviour she could take no more
Weeping silently she closed the door

The middle-aged man hides behind the booze
Thinking of what he has to lose
Seldom sees his kids these days
Living life through a drunken haze

The middle-aged man tries to regain his youth
Pursuing young women to give him proof
Reassurance is what he needs to hear
Rejection is his biggest fear

The middle-aged man shows no remorse
Won't believe that he's the cause
The lonely man will end his days
Ne'er seeing the error of his ways

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I am 73 years old. That puts me well past middle age. If your indictment of the middle aged man is true, then I, and many others, must have skipped it. Ron
