The Mirror Poem by MaryLisa Russo

The Mirror

Rating: 5.0

Stay away from hatred
She is mean and bitter
And doesn't look at herself
In the mirror.
I saw her last Tuesday
Cigarette smoke spiralling
Like a runaway train from
Her crimson lips
She spoke of money
She spoke of acquisitions
She spoke of status
She spoke of fables
Smokescreen....
She dripped of insecurity
She smelled of harsh flowers
She listened to no one
She heard only herself
Aiding was foreign to her
Giving was a horror
Smiling was a sin
Stay away from hatred
She is mean and bitter
And does not WANT
To look at herself
In the mirror

A very nice poem indeed, and the way you've described hatred, it's a warning to everyone. Well done!

Profound poem with great advice for one and all. I like your use of the mirror. Sometimes the reflection is positive, and sometimes not so positive. And it can always be turned into a positive!

a hard life yields hard outcomes and it is probably for the best that they are not faced head on. it may not be the sight of her in the mirror but what is behind her in the back ground that she fears. a very interesting write
