The Moggie Woman Poem by Francis Duggan

The Moggie Woman

Those who know her know her as the Moggie Woman
She has thirty cats and kittens in her care
She finds stray cats and carries them home with her
And with feline company her home she share.

You won't hear any birds sing in her garden
They fear the danger they see lurking there
Where many cats live you won't see much birdlife
Of danger to them wild things are aware.

It's been said that the Moggie Woman doesn't like people
That she would prefer cats for company
But I have always known her to be friendly
She always smiles and says hello to me.

We view those who are different with suspicion
And about those different don't have good to say
And to share your home with thirty cats not seen as normal
But I ask you what is normal anyway? .

For the Moggie Woman I see her as normal
If she loves felines there's no wrong in that
An evil human being is far more dangerous
Than the meanest and the largest type of cat.

They only know her as the Moggie Woman
For she likes cats and love their company
But I have only known her to be friendly
She always smiles and says hello to me.
