The Moonlit Night And The Stars And Us Poem by Uma Pochampalli Goparaju

The Moonlit Night And The Stars And Us

What is a song that keeps going
Without the rhyme and rhythm that you make!
Will that be a night without a star in the sky?
Hey come dance with me to the rhythm
For the night is too young to pass away sleeping
Come lets celebrate while singing in arm and arm and once again
Let the moonlight shine the night as we keep moving with the beat

Why does the wind carry such loud notes
As if the mountains are rumbling
As if the oceans are raging
Will that be someone who lost their love
Is the rage from the burning night with the heart singing songs of desire
In memory of a love without anything to compare
Leave the lonesome stars alone
Do not count them for they are less than your woes
You do not give way to sadness
It is not in you tonight
The beat is bold and the night is to behold
With your beauty that I so preciously hold
Will that be too much to ask you
To come tangle in tango with me

Tell me you do remember me
And you always hold me close to your heart
Say you know my sweet love,
That you will always keep singing
And keep it always in your heart
Thinking of me and our time we spent together
The night we spent all through the night
Without leaving our embrace touching the skies

Never leave me
Never say you'll ever leave me
With the sea breeze so cold
Coming through the night sky
Sea birds crying wild notes in the wind
Blinking lights from distance
matching with the lonesome stars
that are twinkling away
Oh hold me close to your heart
So we can never ever part from
One another, another night..

Will that be a dance you would dance tonight
For the beating drums and the rhyme and rhythm
When you get up to swing and sway around
Swaying your hips each side,
My love! will that be called a song? Or a dance?

The days that were gone without seeing you,
The nights that were spent without you next to me
The long dark nights spent starless in a cloudy weather
Will not be troubling us nor come back ever
As you swing and dance away with me tonight!
Will you sing with me tonight?
The night is so young and the song is half sung
Love me, my love, love me tonight
Would you love me tonight?

My love the song is so blue
Without you..........to sing with me
Like the moonlight sliding down the stairs
The time is passing with no love
If you keep away from me at such a distance
The love that is not seen tonight
Is that some song that was left unsung
Wow! would you sing with me tonight
So the song is not so blue.....
Oh my love! tonight I call you to come hold me tight
With the song not so blue....

Let the songs pour as if drizzling rain in monsoon
Shivering the hearts held close together
As though the night would never end!
Sing for me Krishna your sweet melody of murali

Hold me close Krishna for the moonlight sings with your flute
In this night holding me in your arms

Clouds are gloomy and dark
Yet the darkness is intercepted by the lightning
Your conch rises in the darkness
Breaking away all the illusions that one has!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was composed as I was listening to the live performance of Mani Sarma and folks at the 1st NATA convention at the George Brown Center, Houston, TX, on July 1st,2012.
Despite the fact that the cams were asked to stop rolling, the letters would not stop running with the tune!
Here is what came out of my finger tips last Sunday night!
So, hats off to Mani Sarma and folks!

Impressively poignant and well delivered slice of free-verse...Enjoyed this...You've got the gift of the Silent Word... Keep that pen popping...And your chin-upm for better day's ahead...
