The Morning! Poem by Rajeev Deshpande

The Morning!

Rating: 3.5

The competitive rhythmic snoaring of heavy sleepers
finally subsides and dawns the daily day, yawning.
The multicolored toothbrushes
after sweeping their respective oral cavities
(selfishness is virtue here!)
dutifully reoccupy their alloted holes.
Like the dead mice picked by tails,
the milk packets are pinched by two hasty hands
and thud in the basket.
Underneath, fancies the mew mew mew
for any remotely chanced spill.
In the well aimed gallery flutters in the newsy bunch
spilling the stale news
that had already stuffed yesterday's brains.
Whisks the news boy
unfailingly leaving the gate wide open
and majestically tramps in
the band of ever hungry goats
for whom all land is God's.
Coolly awaits in the china the hot must of the morning
for the maiden appreciative slurp.
Now begins the frantic search
for the blistered remote control
lodged somewhere in the stuffed cushions
thumbed by the sleepy night's viewer.
The stolid screen suddenly shows and shouts
changing its kaliedoscopic moods.
Guffaws, chatters, chants
until it holds breath in lotus pose - the yogic mute!
Suddenly surmicing that he is meant to protect the house
the wagging master makes his dramatic appearance
from behind the sofa
unhesitatingly shaking his sides
right in the mid of room
reminding the sequencially roused occupants
that allergies have varied etiology!
The day is wide awake!

Yes the description is interesting and grabs the attention like a rabbit in a snare. Sorta like you can't put a good book down to wait to see the ending. Loved it!
