The Most Beautiful Smile I Ever Saw Poem by Samantha McKinnon

The Most Beautiful Smile I Ever Saw

Rating: 5.0

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
appeared on a day
when all things bright and beautiful,
should have gone.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
in fact wasn't beautiful at all.
It was the evil smirk of the
ugliest, and most terrifying of monsters.
One that only hurts.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
still haunts me but
only in the darkest of dreams.
It appeared when he himself
had struck me down to my knees.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
is what brought me forward
to put an end to the monster
that only I knew existed;
The very person I should have trusted unquestionably.

Theat smile came again when I was begging a stranger,
"Please don't take us away fr..."
And that smile cut me short,
and ripped my heart apart.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
in fact wasn't beautiful at all.
It was the evil smirk of the
ugliest, and most terrifying of monsters.
One that only hurts.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
was only beautiful in the aspect that
it showed, to a young girl,
the truth behind
not her Dad, but her 'father',
who might as well have not
been at father at all.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
opened up my eyes to the ugly truth.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
in fact wasn't beautiful at all.
It was the evil smirk of the
ugliest, and most terrifying of monsters.
One that only hurts.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
set me free, and showed me
I should have never protected them;
The one that hurt, and the one who watched
and did nothing- the one who
dared still call herself my 'mom'.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
set me free.

The most beautiful smile I ever saw
in fact wasn't beautiful at all.
It was the evil smirk of the
ugliest, and most terrifying of monsters.
One that only hurts.

Home is supposed to be heaven on earth, a refuge from ugly experiences, a beacon of strength... However some people go through deplorable situations in their various homes, An insightful depiction of abuse at home, well articulated and nicely penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing Samantha. The act of writing, I have found, is cathartic. You have dealt with this issue quite rationally and in a healthy manner. This was written very well, Samantha. I wish you peace
