The Nail Poem by Bill Simmons

The Nail

Rating: 5.0

Did you ever sit on the floor
With a nail in your hand
Staring at that light socket
A five year old young man

Did you take that nail
And stick it right on in
And did you get quite a charge
And not quite understand

So you took that nail
And you did it all again
But this time paid attention
Threw that nail from your hand

Did you finally get it
You wont try that again
Although some things may fit the hole
You just don’t plug it in

So did you run to mama
Still despite it all
Something bit you and bit you bad
And it came right from that wall

Now there is your brother
Sitting on the floor
With a nail in hand and about to do
What you went through before

So do you tell him?
Do you say, Hey, Stop wait!
Sometimes for wisdom there is a price to pay
So you hesitate!
