The Naive One Poem by Francis Duggan

The Naive One

He's had more than one extra marital affair in his married life
For he is one who often cheats on his wife
On sundays with his wife and children in the church he does pray
Though one of the commandments he does never obey.

His wife thinks he is faithful and suspicious she does not grow
When he tell her he's going bowling that to his lover's house he go
The facts of his extra marital affairs are known far and wide
Yet she does not know of his bit on the side.

A very naive woman she seems to be
That through him and his lies she cannot even see
He comes home tired from bowling or so she believe
Some men are unfaithful and good to deceive.

He comes across as honest and very devout
One would swear that butter would not melt in his mouth
But the local promiscuous women know he is good in bed
And his wife the naive one by him is misled.

He tells her tonight i bowled like one inspired
And she whispers sleep well dear you do seem so tired
She is a naive one she hasn't a clue
That the dad of her children to her is untrue.
