The Name Street Kid I Despise Poem by ambitious blessing

The Name Street Kid I Despise

l am an ordinary child
But they call me a street kid
The street is my home I never denied
And where I was dumped to see the evil world
I have no choice but the name street kid I despise
I am better but they see nothing in me
I suffer rejection but I am no hominid
The streets is where my bread is buttered

Poverty swallowed my parents
And i ended up staying where they don't ask for rents
I am a landlord in the streets and not a tenant
My home is never permanent
That's why I am always on transit
Cause I never enrolled to be recruited into the streets
I am a street kid that's what they say
But I will rocket to success and get a better compartment
I guess that will change my name
Cause the name street kid I despise

Quite a powerful poem! Often the world labels you with just a passing glance, seeing only what they choose to see. I hope that you stay safe, and survive what is hardest...ignorance. I especially liked your line, I ended up staying where they don't ask for rents....Today many of us are a doorstep away from that. I congratulate you on a poignant write. PEACE
