The Never Ending Play Poem by Sheldon Moore

The Never Ending Play

In a corner she cowers
unwarranted guilt
shame without reason
looking through
a crimson sea
beholding rage
masking righteousness
indignation feigned
imagined betrayal
in the facade of love

blood and sweat
taste salty in the mouth
pain fills the crevices
of her wilting body
thundering hands
powered by fear
fueled with insecurity
hiding cowardice
challenged manhood
the bully revealed

the storm passes
devastation remains
scars never heal
roaming questions
difficult answers
oh, forgiveness he begs
a play that never ends
a vicious cycle
dominance, possession
simmering hate beneath

will it ever end?
