No Reason To Care

(9/4/94 / Somewhere)

~The Next Generation~

its quiet all around
not a soul to be found
a hush
a whisper
fall upon these halls
no more
bouncing basket balls

just silence
this doesn't make sense
I feel so
school is supposed
to be loud
with trophies in front
showing there proud

but this school is dark
it has left its mark
a single tiger
at the front of school
the kids used to think
that it was cool

but they grew up
and left the halls cold
they got bigger and bigger
and soon became old
leaving the school
broken down
for the next generation

poet Henry Lawson

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
