The Night Poem by Penni Currie

The Night

I gave you wine
You gave me time
I came to you in pain
We walked in the rain
then you kissed my cares away.
Now I feel so good
I know just where I am.
I needed to escape
You conspired to set me free
So if you ever need me
Know that i'll be here
I've told you how I love you
Now you no longer fear.
I hold you sacred in my heart
The fire burns so bright
and now I feel the ghosts depart
Thank you for the night.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was in a bad place, contemplating suicide and a friend helped me through the night. He had thought I wanted him in a sexual way but after that night I think he realised I loved him as a friend. Thanks again Serk
