The Nurse, The Deliverer Of Death Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Nurse, The Deliverer Of Death

Love is an angel of death
It protects you from pain with more pain
It keeps you hopped up on morphine and you relive dead love

Love is the delivery system of death
Most importantly because there is a definite end
Thought you may feel it approach, vigilance was not a top priority

There were two for the morning, two for the afternoon
I saw the two of them at twilight contrasted calmly against an unleashed moon
But only one made it through their alone together time
For this, they are now being punished upon the floor
By being waterboarded, dunked into what they are forced to remember from before

Love is an investment in death
A vote for mortality and emotional difficulties
A vote against safety and taking it easy on the nerves

That's when you'll know you need someone to take care of you
And you'll settle for a recollected feeling instead of the real thing
Propping up your pillows, first hand phantom on duty

Though all are abuzz with continuous talk of pulling the plug
No one's left alive to euthanize
Rather what needs to be killed is an experience
You try to throttle it or smother it but it squirms, gets loose, hides under comatose ex-lovers
