The Old Man Poem by Cody Averesch

The Old Man

Emotions don’t come out easy with me,
Maybe I feel I am too tough, but not on this night.
I chose to stay home, I missed his last moments.
Playing X-box and my phone goes off.
Its midnight and my granddad is dead.
I didn’t get to say goodbye but I’m sure he knows,
I remember a day before, the words,
Take the tubes out, I knew then he was gone.
But I still didn’t get to see him for the last time.
Emotions came out that week, for once
