The Old Town Of Port Adelaide Poem by Francis Duggan

The Old Town Of Port Adelaide

The old Town of Port Adelaide i love that dear old Town
With it's factories and buildings of blue, green, greys and brown
And it's little old style houses they look so European
Of all Australian cities the finest i have seen.

Like old bard of the old school blessed with the gift of rhyme
The old pubs of Port Adelaide unchanged by march of time
A hark back to the old days to nineteenth century
And little bits of Europe still everywhere to see.

The old Town of Port Adelaide still has an old World face
Where an American type skyscraper would seem right out of place
This is an old historic Town i feel it has a soul
And you go back go back in time when through old Port you stroll.

This Town perhaps still looks the same since days of the pioneer
When people from around the World in boat loads landed here
They came out to the big Country for betterment and gain
The people gone the ways of time the old Town still remain.

The old Town of Port Adelaide i love that dear old Town
With it's factories and buildings of blue, green, greys and brown
And it's little old style houses they look so European
Of all Australian cities the finest i have seen.
