I hurt you deeply
We grow together
Struggle as one
Never apart but please
Understand that I'm to blame
Conscious or not
It doesn't matter
Okay, it wasn’t the latter

Once more in the position
Role of the underdog
Proving that I'm worthy
Didn't have to be
Just because I packed away
The mind numbing chemicals
Doesn't make me a saint
So vulnerable, running for cover
Without a shelter to keep me warm
It's too damn easy for this person
But this fear of intimacy
Is fit for a coward

How many chances have you given me?
Too many to even realistically count
You've given up trying to convince me
That your intention was never to stew
With this weary head
Evidence is clear what I prefer
Our love isn't dead
I must pull this weight
To put the breath of life
Whether or not
We believe in miracles
Or drape ourselves with magic
Work, logic and a little faith
Is what I'm after
Intent on seeing us through
To the other side
Where I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy
