The Pa Poem by Bunny Baker

The Pa

There was a young lady called Rosemary Baker,
It was said she could work yet no-one could make her.

She was pretty, most clever and occasionally flirty
and would earn a good wage if she'd get her hands dirty.
So her parents decried with their hard northern roots,
whodyou think that you are? Like some posh puss in boots!
You can't hang around here doing nothing all day!
You need to get on! get working, earn pay!

Well this didnt sound very fair to young Rose,
and believing that she was entitled to dose
packed up her bags or they were packed for her,
and set of to London where they'd surely adore her.

Now in Mayfair she met her a fellow named Patrick,
A jolly nice chap if a trifle didactic.
Pat worked for a hedge fund and said in an instant,
Ye gads what i need is a personal assistant!

This sounded just fine to the young workshy Rosy,
If he'll pay for my time then i'll be his posy!
Now seven years later she's still sitting cosy.

She spends day after day typing emails to friends,
making personal phone calls that might never end,
and poor Patrick now looking so gaunt and grey skinned
sits cursing the day that young Rosy walked in.

The moral of this tale if it really needs telling,
is there's more to be looked at than good looks and good spelling
