The Pain Of Betrayal Poem by Steven Hayes

The Pain Of Betrayal

The words she speaks
Infested with lies
Destroyer of passion
Creator of hatred
My 'once upon a time'
Striped from underneath my wings
Every breathe she takes eats at my soul
The pain of betrayal, worse than any other
With every thought, comes death of my pride, my love, my trust
The hammer draws back, the tears fall down, and with an exhale
'Click, ' sigh.
'What is more hollow, my heart or this chamber, ' I whisper.
