The Pain Of Memories & Of Dreams Poem by Janak Desai

The Pain Of Memories & Of Dreams

Rating: 5.0

raindrops today
which kissed my soul,
felt as if, they were my own;
like the tears, which have flowed,
silently, in the memory of you
in the unending anticipation … of you;

and the sudden downpour,
as if the sky…
...which could not bear the weight
...beneath my eyelids,
opened up at last
in honor of my love for you,
it must have rained to comfort me,
to remind me of my unending devotion

and i closed my eyes
in the comfort of this hug,
and in the calm that prevailed...
appeared the one i have been waiting for,

and i said…
"Listen, rest here,
only for a moment, if it must be
only for a moment, let me touch thee
time, may finally stop this time"

and deja vu...once again,
… a cold wintery draft slapped me,
torturing the reality of dreams
and once again,
the dry tears….

yes, the raindrops today,
which kissed my soul,
felt as if they were my own

I value your the thoughts / comment you made here. I write mostly in three Indian languages, and constantly study the rules of poetry writing. I am now writing more and more in English, but have never studied the English literature. Your comments today have inspired me to go that route with more vigor. Thank you.

I write in four languages, and in each one, I always study to improve the use of metaphor. Metaphors are powerful, but mastering them is a never ending study. I appreciate what you have said.
