The Pantomime Dancer Poem by Edwina Aleme

The Pantomime Dancer

Rating: 3.5

The pantomime dancer,
Like the pianist, playing sweet symphony
Imagery comes to play
As one on a mission to sway.
Dressed in typical African bush attire
Body as flexible as yoga….

Like a gentle dove flapping,
Like a cat searching and purring
Sliding from corner to corner
Slippery as an eel
Gliding as a snake
Slipping and crawling
Stretching from side to side
Gentle walks and swings…..

Like a pendulum,
He swings from side to side
Not minding who is watching
Motion takes the whole of him.
At every stage, he leads you on,
Until you wish you’d see him again….

I've never really thought about Pantomime dancers. The poem is great.
