The Past Poem by Holly Kennedy

The Past

Once a boy and a girl
Held eachother dear
For years they had no other
For they were just kids

They grew, played games
and talked to each other
Their Friendship grew
as years went by

They wavered as highschool came
Each lost to themselves
and to one another

They passed in the halls
Barely seeing the other
The boy was never far from
Each thought in the girls heart

She saw him day after day
As he made all the other girls laugh
Like he had for her
So long ago

She longs for the past
When they were just so young
Without a meaning thought
Just to be near him
For she fears that she'll lose him

In her mind she longs for the boy
That had held her once so near and dear
As her worlds starts to fade
Into the tears and the pain

She wishes to tell him
About her pain
Hoping that he'll take it all away
By holding her once more

But he sees her not in thought
But in sight and just barely

So she sits here and writes
this all down
Knowing the he doesnt love her
For who could

She had him and him her
When love meant nothing to either
But now she knows truly
That no matter what
She'll love him
Like no other has
Had
Or ever will
For he is her
One and only
