The Past Is Past Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Past Is Past

The past is past
All that has been
Will forever be lost
Our life as it is lived is lost
And all our longing will not bring it back to us
We were young once
And did not know that we were
And did not value what we had
And now so old and so far away
We can only regret that we were fools then
And sadder now
Go on longing to be young again to our graves.
