The Piano Poem by Gerard Horgan

The Piano

Each note of a piano,
Evokes a different thought.
Of rain drops or a passing tear,
The ebb and flow of life
The insurmountable and surmounted,
The inevitable certainty,
And finality of life.
The beauty of human beings,
Their wealth of emotion and talent.
When intertwined and combined,
Produce serenity.

All this from a bit of wire Stretched taunt between two metal post And struck sometimes gently And other times with force! But like all things great and small The vibrations cause the environment In which it is encased Is momentarily changed Then, according to its own way, The energy is released and it slowly returns to rest Awaiting another time. Hie on!
