The Pirate In Me Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

The Pirate In Me

I fear not the one outside
Trying to persecute me to death
I fear not the one around
Envying my personal wealth
I fear not the one in touch
Derailing my every move

I fear the one within
Putting pressures on me
And stressing my ability
To do the undone quickly
And ending it all
When the going isn’t easy

He’s stolen all within me
And has made me very empty
Putting fluffy stuff inside me
And making me feathery of my weight
He’s made me a kid amongst mates
And my world blur in the midst of light

He’s made me arrogant, head-strong and naughty
He’s made me shy, fear and numb
He’s pushed me to the brim
Where I dreaded going
Making me rush, crush and die
Oh! The pirate in me!
