The Placenta Of Poetry. Poem by john o'connell

The Placenta Of Poetry.

the placenta of poetry.

at 35
still young and arrogant
but with some modesty

more fully fledged
in the void's vale
of dropping foundation blocks
into pools of quicksand

tenements are always prey
to vulnerabilities of one kind
or the other

if someone sneezes
I am uncomfortly cold

one sleeve of my pullover
is pulled above the elbow -
it is threadbare!

An intriguing poem with a hint of greatness.A kind of poem that you you have to read a few times to get down to the kernel of it. Each verse is a challenge and an exposition of our vulnerability. There is a thread of modesty and honesty in it too, especially in the reference to a threadbare sleeve.
