The Polar Bear And Me Poem by Gillian Commerford

The Polar Bear And Me

Rating: 5.0

When I'm old
and irritating you
put me in my wheelchair
and push me to the zoo.
Push me to the cage
where dwells the polar bear-
He and I have much in common
so much to share:
He feels out of place
in this hot clime;
I feel out of place
in this space and time.
His looks are slow and clumsy
yet mask a hidden power-
Leave me there to talk to him
hour after hour.
