The Prisoner Poem by Mike Farris Jr.

The Prisoner

THE PRISONER

He thinks about his loved ones on the outside
The friends he has, the property he owns
The prisoner reflects on what he’s done wrong
Can’t change the past
He sits in jail
To deal with the issues the prisoner’s been dealt
His thoughts and actions
He tries to subdue
Finding peace of mind
It’s something he must do
Writing poems and letters to keep his mind clear
Can’t help but to wish
That his freedom was here
The light from abroad will find him soon
He sits and waits
For the time to come
Count down the days
It’s all he can do
