The Quiet Life Poem by Rick Elpers

The Quiet Life

The ultimate life
To live without emotion
Desire or strife
Existence unknown to a future
As an organism faces daily
Work and success
Rest and peace
To awaken in the morning
And repeat with a progressive
Stance to this harsh world
Digging in deeper each day
Until it resembles a grave
Which in its time
Is welcomed with an open heart
Quietly resigned to such an end
To rest with god and eternity
