The Racing Mind Poem by Christopher G. Turner

The Racing Mind

This feeling becoming common
Feeling tired, feeling down
Needing sleep, not wanting
Should I attempt to sleep?

My mind is racing ahead
My eyes cannot stay closed
Don't know what to think
What should I do?

Memory of words spoken
I begin to wonder if
What was said is true
Which words are lies?

Empty thoughts fill my head
I begin to drift off to sleep
My thoughts wavering about
Should I give up this quest?

Perhaps if I let myself sleep
I will find in the morning
A better sense of truth
Will I see you in the morning?
