Montaigne described what i'm quite sure you are trying to convey here - that man thinks himself superior to the animal, and yet has paid an expensive price for his superior mind - while animals can simply let what is be what is, sit silently in the moment, not wage wars, etc. man has to suffer with Past and Future, worry, desire, ego, etc. Schopenhauer and Nietzsche also echoed this view - Schopenhauer said that we admire animals because they are the embodiment of the present moment. Nietzsche said that animals must occasionally look at man as (paraphrase) the laughing animal, the crying animal, the mad animal. or something very close to that - - -another great poem, thanks for sharing! -ray (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Christina Georgina Rossetti

Where sunless rivers weep
Their waves into the deep,
She sleeps a charmed sleep:
Awake her not.
Led by a single star,
She came from very far
