The Remains Of The Past Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Remains Of The Past

The young look forward
And turn back to see
Whether anything to inspire
And took challenge of the present
With hope for future!

The old never look forward
Nor care for the present
And yield to the ordeals
Of the tides of the present
But turn back to live
In the past memories!

The future is for the young
To plan and plot with life
And shape themselves
Of the stalwarts of tomorrow!

The old hesitate to look
On the future with hope
As future has diminished
To the vision of them
As they await the inevitable
And the indescribable moment
Of their compelled deportation!

The old never cherish
A breeze that sooth
A spring in the twilight
And a leap from agony
To an ecstatic state!

The young is the reality
And they walk by hand in glove
With the time's harbinger
And herald the morrow
Of their celebrity!

The old is a fading shadow
That is in transit to a myth
And a tale told
Of the past that mould adage
And time never keep
Any space for them!

The old is ignored
Abandoned and neglected
With frailties and infirmities!

The young has recognition
The power and strength
To do wrong to be strong
Rather to be weak and right!
