The Road Poem by Myrtle Thomas

The Road

The heart ventures paths unknown
following dreams, sparsely sewn
never smooth nor peaceful trail
for love carries passion, let forgiveness prevail

Open to trust with a tender heart
and know the path from where it needs to start
no wandering avenues to venture to
or the penalties payment will be due

Rocky roads with thistles and thorns
a cause to work hard though hearts be worn
it would be easy to move along life's thoroughfare
if the road had signs to say beware

Honesty is a stepping stone on love's walkway
trailing together hand in hand, come what may
the rougher the path the harder you strive
to keep love's passion alive
