And be one traveler, long I stood

WHAT IS SIGNIFICANT IN THIS POEM IS THE FACT THAT WHOEVER READS THIS POEM WILL SURELY FIND HIMSELF IN IT SIMPLY BECAUSE ALL OF US, AT LEAST ONCE, HAD BEEN IN A DILEMMA OF CHOICE BETWEEN TWO ROADS OF LIFE, AND THIS CHOICE WAS TO MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE .IT IS REALLY AN EXCELLENT POEM TO BE READ AND TO BE ANALYZED ESPECIALLY WITH A GREAT TEACHER LIKE MR.BOUKHAMA......SO ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ ـ THANK YOU FOR GIVING YOUR STUDENTS SUCH A CHANCE (Report) Reply

I asked my 11th grade class to compare and contrass this poem with a poem written by Howard Simon called 'I Choose the Mountain' and got some really interesting responses. I have encouraged them to join Poem Hunter and post their responses. I really like this poem...10++++ (Report) Reply

It's about expressing individuality. Taking the alternative route in life, and the joy it brings to those who seek more, those who are brave enough to go where the mass choose not to.. (Report) Reply

This is a favourite among the poems I have suggested to my fourth year students. The reason is mainly that at their age, it can be said that they have come to the fork in the road of their lives. They have to choose among many alternatives in various fields: studies, social life, sentimental life, etc…. This poem inspired many of them to pause and think carefully before they select what would be their future. In previous years I have asked their colleagues to write their comments on: Dreams by Langston Hughes, this year and this message is for them: Please subscribe to this site: PoemHunter.com and write your comments on this poem or Mending Wall. Your comment will be considered as an assignment. Good luck! ! ! (Report) Reply

A poem that's always fresh and thought-provoking. Makes me wonder everytime I read it. It gives a new feeling, one of optimism mixed with thought - a smiling thought. It is done in my fave poems.

Its about the choices in life.I t may be related to choosing one's career. The poet tells us to take the new and different path (career) in life i.e. the road less traveled. Inspite of the risks and difficulties, he says it can make a 'difference' in life. However, peersonally, Frost wants to feel what would have happened if he chose the road most traveled. A very symbolic poem in a very well - written style. (Report) Reply

This is an excellent poem. One of my favorite. Whenever I have a choice to make I read this poem and I Choose the Mountain by Howard Simon. Love them both! (Report) Reply

I feel that life is all about choices and decisions so i can relate to what the poem is all about because eueryday every minute we stand @ that junction to decide. what to do what not to, who to be with, what to believe. knowing so wel that some of what we chose might bring us pain and misery but stil we have to for no decision is stil a decision. Nice poem love it. (Report) Reply

this was a very nice poem. it makes you realize that life is full of choices, where in you should make your own decision wisely. in life there is no one you can blame when you make the wrong choice. it is you that paints your life in this world. there is no turning back and even if you wish you could travel both ways it is impossible.
this poem also teaches us that think and think not only twice but a couple of times when making decision because we don't want any regrets when the damage has been done. this poem also teaches us to accept things planned, maybe God has a reason why He leads you to this difficult experience. it is to test your courage and perseverance and act wisely. it is in our hands what better life we can offer to ourselves. finally, this poem teaches us that no matter what happen, whether we make or not the right decision, let us not be afraid to try. I think that the sigh is the realization that with every choice that we make we eliminate every other possibility that another choice could have made, and as a result has made all of the difference because of that elimination. All of the difference has been eliminated. My interpretation follows more of an aesthetic and metaphysical way of thinking. (Report) Reply

In life, there are lots of decisions and choices to be made. We may never know what would be the outcome of the choice we made but whatever it will be, we cannot retrieve those things that happened in the past. We may sigh in regret but it happened already and all we have to do is accept and learn. (Report) Reply

my interpretation on this poem is simple. We should think before we choose a path that we are going to follow, because we will not be be able to be at that moment again and there is no turning back.
