The Rose Poem by michael douglas hamby

The Rose

Rating: 5.0

To me, you were a rose
sitting in a vase,
a lonely little flower
that was withering all away

Your vase was full of acid
and the sun would never shine
God just kept on shouting
that you were almost out of time.

I’ve tried to help you
but the thorns kept me at bay
so I sat and watched
as death took you away.

You left so quickly
before any goodbye’s
and today I still sit here
with tears in my eyes.
