My name is quinton and im from maine and im gay
i absolutely love this poem
The concrete can be the neighborhood he came from.
Concrete is hard. It could be speaking of the struggle of having to grow up in a rough neighborhood, having to be hard much of the time.
But, rather than let it define his life and steal his dreams, like the fragile rose, he rose up into something beautiful even if it seemed there was no support like rainwater and sun for soil.
Contrast the delicate petals against the unyielding concrete.
You could eat a rose petal, but fall face first and eat concrete, your teeth could break.
Nevertheless, he rose with dreams the sun couldn't scorch nor concrete crush.
Rose up and grew into something better than his environment, a one rose garden, with dreams still entact. This is my interpretation in the moment.
What's yours?
Never was a man like tupac. His poems inspire me.one of da best artist of all times.big up ma brother.
concept is there, the poem is missing...i like the idea but as written thats all it is...
Skillfully written for the message gets across clearly; it's no wonder 2pac was a mechanist- articulating issues not from what they could become but rather where they had come am convinced he or some one like him was definitely this rose that grew from concrete
Very cleverly written and fantastic imagination.
i love this poem! ! ! ! !
This is one of my all time favourite poems. So glad to find it on Poemhunter.
Tupac is talking about how when no one cares, when your dreams seem inaccessable and unachievable, if you perceivere, you can be the rose. it alludes to him being the rose, and how he defied nature by breaking free of his environment. his words were the feet he needed to walk out of there.
