The Rules Of Being Human Poem by Nicola Thoner

The Rules Of Being Human

For a pain so real
In which nobody can understand
The only cure
is to stop thinking about it.
For a person you thought was worth it
But doesn't give back
Stop trying.
You probably overrated them anyway.
For feeling nothing except your heartbeat
And the blood circulating around your body
Tingles on your skin.
That's good. It means you're alive.
And for the sounds of silence
Under appreciation, unresponsiveness and unfulfillment...
They probably never understood you anyway.
