The Search For Me Poem by Claude H Oliver II

The Search For Me

Who is me - What is me - Where is me from
‘I am' is me - what means this…me
Is me separate from or part of other me's
This conception of me both known, unknown
Known from past gone by
Unknown yet to be
This construct of time and place
Ever fluid, ever changing
Yet yielding threads of continuity

For me to be, other me's had to be
My me issues forth from the me's before
Yet my me is its own spark
Me - described yet not contained
Recognized yet not defined
Yes, defying containment and definition
Yet wrestling with both

This struggle - lifelong
This question - eternal in time's infinite confines
Relevant yet irrelevant
For me - still exists, lives, loves, cries, laughs, knows and knows not
The riddle wrapped in enigma most puzzling
Unending daily quest.
