The Second Blindness Poem by Warrith Olawale

The Second Blindness

</>We've been blind; we've been blind.
We've walked in the shadows of the night,
Where nothing saw us; we saw nothing
We've been blind.

And when the light finally comes
The sense of sight doesn't last.
Now we're blinded all over again
Blinded by the excessive brightness of the glow;
And the second blindness is less comfortable
As we see not, yet surrounded by light.

The second blindness attacks the world
With scowls, with grenades
And the darkness settles on the face of peace.
As the ozone layer slips away,
This lonely question captures the grief:
Science, why has your wind taken the leaf
From the dry tranquil tree?
