The Secret Poem by Fiona Schwartzinoff

The Secret

Rating: 1.0

God told a secret to the clouds
The clouds wrote it to the trees
The secret, whispered amid their leaves,
Was heard by passing bees.

The bees buzzed past the singing jay
And the jay sat beside me.
I looked at it and saw it grin
With eyes shining dark seas.

“I know a secret, a good one too.
One that God told the skies.”
“What care I for silly secrets
In a world where people constantly die? ”

He only repeated: “I know a secret, a good one too.
One that God told the skies.”
“Well, then tell me now, although I don’t care
It’s probably all frivolous lies.”

He stared at me hard and pierced the air with
The secret God told the skies:
“You can see all the beauty of life
If you would only open your eyes.”
