The Sensuality Of Trees Poem by Gillian Commerford

The Sensuality Of Trees

I saw a tree in the distance
its back curved
as if it bore the weight of many sorrows

but still growing
tall
its spirit undiminished
and I longed to touch it
with my hands
and with my lips
climb into its branches
crush its leaves beneath my breast
mix my life with its life-

I never realized before
the sensuality of trees.
