The Shadow Tree Poem by Connetta Jean

The Shadow Tree

There is a place,
Up on the ridge..
over by Claytown
on a county road
short cut.
where bales of Hay
save the warmth from
A late summer sun.
(Late as in passed)
Autumn has yet to touch
this tree that made
nice fine shadows
for cool summmer shade..
But Autum is here
she dances around them.
Today, She brought
cool winds
and dark winter skies.
she's coloring the lanscape
leaf by leaf...
soon the shadow tree
will stand naked
with all the others.
