The Song Poem by D. S. Jones

The Song

I love these days when Spring is near
When rooms are filled with promised sun,
And fresh green growth reappears
Such hope within me rises.

Though wet still the fields may be
And cold the north wind blows
To see the tiny snowdrop's leaves
Their promised bloom entices.

Then from a perch a sparrows song
With sun upon his breast
Renewal of the earth begins
The joyful song comprises

He lifts his voice up to the sky
The hope-filled song is sung
He says to all as Winter sighs
'Take heart, ' his song advises.
