The Song Was So Enchanting

Rating: 5.0

The song it lingered in my mind
a song I'd heard before.
It taunted me and beguiled me
as I knew I knew it more.

The tune it overtook me
and made patterns in my mind
But I still could not identify
the words I'd left behind.

Just then a bolt of lighting
struck a tree outside my door.
And the words that had taunted me
were spread out on the floor.

The song was all about strangers
that landed on my shore.
And took the names of people
That I knew I'd met before.

The first one was my Father
the second was my Nan
The third one was my brother
who died in Vietnam

The song was so enchanting
that I took it to my heart
Because I never ever wanted
my memory's to depart
