The Sort Of Society We Live In Poem by Francis Duggan

The Sort Of Society We Live In

The sort of society we live in ourselves we create
The games that we play that can lead us to hate
For those who are different to us in some way
To the one god are we all obliged to pray,
Our divisive leaders who talk of us against they
The strange game of words that some do seem to play
Made by those the years have not made wise but only made gray
So rare are the wise in the World of today
When peace is becoming just a fading dream
The wise of the World are rare it does seem
Words that suit them best so many wish to hear
And what point is in the truth if the truth we do fear
That the sort of society we live in ourselves we create
And the one who is different to you cannot be your mate.
