The Stranger Poem by David Darbyshire

The Stranger

Rating: 5.0

Why am I a stranger
I know you all so well
There isn't any danger
If there was I would tell

You say that you love me
And you know I love you to
A stranger I cannot be
Is there's nothing I can do?

We laugh and talk everyday
How can I be so unknown
I know there is a better way
There's nothing I wish to postpone

Please say you love me
And I will do the same
To be in love is the key
The stranger we will tame

Reassuring piece Dave, so tender and with rhyme.

David, well written, love poem, longing for someone to feel and return your love. I love the line 'There isn't any danger - If there was, I would tell.'

David, though the second stanza seems a little weak in rhyme, the last stanza is wonderful. A touching piece. The last line is a great summation. Keep it coming. My Best, Joy

This appeals to me. I know those moments when the person you have been in love with for XYZ years suddenly, fleetingly, feels like a stranger. Love is the foundation indeed.... I like the way you put it. t x
