The Tail Poem by Renu Beri

The Tail

Rating: 3.5

Squi, the flamboyant squirrel,
Was proud of his tail,
Soft and cushy,
Long and bushy,
Quick and swishy,
How he loved his wonderful tail!

It helped him climb trees,
Outwit terrible enemies,
Fast and quick,
A slick flick,
Cheat and trick,
Oh! He could avert all danger.

As an innocent baby,
He had asked his mom,
Why a tail?
Often a flail,
Sometimes a sail,
How excited his baby mind was!

Amused, his mother laughed,
Lovingly called him a daft,
Tail is a boon,
You'll know soon,
I'm sure by noon,
She smilingly answered him.

One horrible day at noon,
Chased by a dog,
Who nearly clipped,
Tore and ripped,
As it nipped,
Squi almost lost his tail.

Now the dandy tail looked scruffy,
And a little quiffy,
Squi narrated gaily,
Merrily and playfully,
How the tail bravely,
Escaped the fangs of the ferocious dog.
