The Telepathic Minds Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

The Telepathic Minds

What a heart to heart talk they had!
They were warned not to look at each other.
But when he casually peeped into a running bus,
she showered a nice smile looking out of the bus.
Was it she or some heaven-sent angel?
He was walking on the road at hot noon for lunch.

Fearing dire consequences, they had no message mailed.
She left his village once for all, unnoticed,
as her father was transferred to a far flung village.
But when he was sitting in the shades of a tree
in Madurai Meenakshi temple, with a downcast face,
bearing her elegant face in his heart, ’who called him out? ’.
For some time they were silent, looking at each other,
as being struck dumb with amazement.
When looks shared the terrible past
what need for the words had they to tell?
Yikes! He turned round to see
If her brothers were there with knives. She smiled.
They had yen to embrace and shed tears.
But they weren’t alike the other local youths.
They were apart and never touched before did they depart.
