The Tell-Tale (Lead?) Poem by Calvin Berg

The Tell-Tale (Lead?)

This is it; really the end.
This strange farce is done.
The friendship is over
But is it really?

On the one hand there's pain
On the other is salvation
On my heart there is a demon
Does it really hurt?

On my face, I have a grin
In my eyes I have a frown
On my heart, there is some lead
Am I really smiling?

She will read
She will write
She'll not resist temptation
Will she even read?

I don't care
My cheek is turned
My life has too
Don't I care?

It was fun
Then it broke
The wheel no longer turns
The lead melts onto the beating heart.
